data.entry.eventDescription = Action: Cinema As Connection Presents Filmmaking As Resistance / Storytelling As Survival: A workshop with Director Alima Lee. Location: Echo Park Film Center This free workshop is part of ACTION! Cinema as Connection, a series presenting documentary films and workshops by female filmmakers of color. ACTION! is made possible with the support of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In an effort to achieve solidarity, we most often forget to hear each other out, especially those not usually asked to speak; to make the effort to understand their perspective through an unbiased lens. We tell our stories for survival; for the chance for you to better understand our circumstances and allow for a shift in consciousness. However, considering such circumstances, black femmes & QTPOC (Queer & Trans People of Color) are more often than not cut off to vital resources crucial to creating films. With limited resources, how can we create the films we want to make? How can we support each other and raise up together?
