Somaliland born Nimco Ali, after having experienced the trauma of FGM as a child, has devoted her life to campaigning against female genital mutilation. She has received an OBE for her work and was co-founder of the Daughters of Eve and later The Five Foundation, which is a global partnership to end female genital mutilation (FGM).
Her first book, ‘What We’re Told Not to Talk About (But We’re Going to Anyway)' was a compilation of 42 conversations with women, speaking on subjects women experience but never openly talk about.
